In The Pinc Museum, you’ll learn about the history, architecture, and fabled lure of The Pink Lady Mansion. We’ll explore how history shaped Old Town Eureka, from the native Wiyot Tribe who inhabited the land to the gold rush, timber industry, and beyond.
Monumental world events shaped the Victorian era, and this period of time greatly impacted the growth and development of Eureka. Our mission is to educate the next generation about this remarkable period, which corresponds with Queen Victoria’s reign from 1837 until her death in 1901. It was a time of rapid political and social change, the industrial revolution, and scientific discoveries. It was a period of opulence and hope juxtaposed with poverty and social injustice.
Studying the stories of Eureka’s founding families gives us clues about what life was like back then. We’ll dig into their personal lives to learn more about life in the Pink Lady Mansion in the early days. We’ll also examine the legacy of the Carson family, from the famous William Carson to his son John Milton Carson and his bride Mary Amelia (Bell) Carson, and their family.
Displays will feature global and local historical relics from 1850-1950, artifacts, and photographs. A beautiful room-sized timeline lays out the history surrounding The Pinc.
